Maranta

These striking foliage plants from the rainforests of Brasil have stunning leaf patterns. Their common name 'Prayer Plant' comes from their leaves which rise and fall throughout the day and night. They can be left as trailing plants or encouraged to grow on a moss pole or frame.

Growing Conditions:

Light: Moderate, avoiding direct sun.

Temperature and humidity: Warm. Moderate to high humidity.

Feeding: Fortnightly. Occasionally in winter.

Watering: Keep moist but avoid waterlogging. In winter water when compost surface just dry.

Propagation: Division, tip cuttings.
