Paris Plant Shop Tour

Recently I was lucky enough to get to Paris for a couple of days and one of the things that was on my list was having a good nosey around all the plant shops and cafes. You may not immediately think of Paris as a go to for botanical beauty but read anything from urban jungle bloggers or see the instagram of @joelixjoelix and you’ll see that there are some fab plant places. Wild and The Moon Cafe So first stop was @wildandthemoon cafe. This was located on a little side street and initially looked like a slightly wild greenhouse. On closer inspection it became clear that it was an uber hip (is the word uber still cool?!) hang out for both locals and ex pats with the best hanging plant collect

Air Purifying Plants

House plants are not just a good interiors look though - they actually have real benefits. The most notable study was done in 1989 by NASA. When the air inside the space stations was becoming toxic one of the things that NASA wanted to do was find any plants that could absorb chemicals from the air. They did an extensive look into 16 common house plants and looked into the effects of the house plants on levels of three chemicals. These were formaldehyde, benzene and trichloroethylene; all of which are found in our homes and are considered possible carcinogens and teratogens (an agent or factor which causes malformation of an embryo). There’s even a name for the process: phytoremediation. I
